Oeresund	Copenhagen Roads	1801	Slaget paa reden	Prompted by Danish participation in an armed neutrality arrangement, which would have ensured the arrival of supplies to Napoleon. The Danish ships formed a line to keep the British flleet out of bomb range of Copenhagen dockyard. They had been dismasted to avoid provoking Nelson, on his way to deal with the Russians. But he attacked after putting his blind eye to his telescope and failing to see the signal not to. The attack was called off when 6 of the English ships ran aground. Lt Willemoes was the Danish hero.
